This course is online and is for any beginner wanting to learn the basics of tap dance. The class will include balance, counting, rhythm, and basic tap steps. For grades 3rd-5th. Tap Shoes are required.
This class will require a device that has camera and sound capabilities and is able to participate in a virtual platform over the internet (such as Zoom, Skype...etc.)
This class will be taught by Samantha Stavely. Ms. Stavely is the Artistic Director of Young People’s Theatre at SCC, where she has been a staff member since 2017. She received her BA in Arts Management with an emphasis in Theatre and her MAT in Speech and Theatre Education from Lindenwood University. As Artistic Director of Young People’s Theatre, Samantha works with youth ages 8-19 to learn all aspects of theatre and perform high-quality productions. Young People’s Theatre has been nominated for over twenty awards from Arts for Life and continues to be one of the leading performance groups for youth in the area. In addition to working as Artistic Director, Samantha is the director of the Young Artist Training Program at SCC, where she programs classes and workshops to educate students on acting, singing and dancing. Samantha resides in Chesterfield and when she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and their goldendoodle.
