Advanced Scene Study

This course is a scene study and explores important techniques for character analysis. Students perform selected scenes from plays and create a well-rounded character, based on tools taught within the class.
PRE-REQUISITE – Actor’s Studio II or similar performance/education experience.

This class will meet on the SCC campus, Donald Shook Fine Arts Building, Room 104.

Instructor Bio: Samantha Stavely is the Artistic Director of Young People’s Theatre at SCC, where she has been a staff member since 2017. She received her BA in Arts Management with an emphasis in Theatre and her MAT in Speech and Theatre Education from LindenwoodUniversity. As Artistic Director of Young People’s Theatre, Samantha works with youth ages 8-19 to learn all aspects of theatre and perform high-quality productions. Young People’s Theatre has been nominated for over twenty awards from Arts for Life and continues to be one of the leading performance groups for youth in the area. In addition to working as Artistic Director, Samantha is in charge of the Young Artist Training Program at SCC, where she programs classes and workshops to educate students on acting, singing, and dancing. Samantha resides in Chesterfield and when she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and their Goldendoodle.
